The Hagerstown Tea Party announced the winner of the U.S. Constitutional Scholarship at an awards presentation on May 19 at the Washington County Board of Education's Center for Education Services building on Downsville Pike in Hagerstown.
This year's winner is Tyler Olson, who was awarded the $1,000 check to attend Penn State University in the fall./
Tyler is a graduating senior at Boonsboro High School.
Tyler submitted hi essay and completed his oral interview on May 16.
There were seven candidates who competed for the scholarship, which was sponsored by the Hagerstown Tea Party.
In addition, Tyler also received a letter of recognition from Del. Neil Parrot who was the founder of the Hagserstown Tea Party.
Del. Brett Wilson served as one of the four judges for the competition.
The Hagerstown Ma Party funds the scholarship by seeking donations and through various fund-raising activities, such as its gun raffle and fall picnic.
